In lieu of their annual dinner gala in 2020, the New York/New Jersey Foreign Freight Forwarders & Brokers Association (NYNJFFF&BA) printed and sold a keepsake member directory, donating a portion of the proceeds to The Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI). In May 2021, NYNJFFF&BA Executive Director, Michele Farrell, and Bill Skinner, President, presented SCI with a check.
The directory is dedicated to front line workers and their efforts in keeping the economy moving during the pandemic.
“We made the unanimous decision to donate the money to SCI because of everything they do for the maritime industry,” said Bill Skinner, President, WB Skinner, Inc. “My father, who founded my firm, used to attend Mass at SCI every day. SCI is at the heart of the maritime industry and deserves to be rewarded.”
About The Seamen’s Church Institute:
The Seamen’s Church Institute advocates for the personal, professional, and spiritual well-being of merchant mariners around the world. Through our Center for Maritime Education, Center for Mariner Advocacy, Port Newark International Seafarers’ Center, and Ministry on the River, SCI promotes safety, dignity, and improved working and living conditions for the men and women serving in the maritime workplace. Founded in 1834 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, though nondenominational in terms of its trustees, staff, and service to mariners, the Seamen’s Church Institute of New York & New Jersey (SCI) is the largest, most comprehensive mariners’ service agency in North America.
